Two honor counts were scored this week in the Senior Bowling League at Waletzko’s Alleys. Salty Maunu was tops with a 641 series. Millard (Doc) Bell turned in a count of 606 and Elmer Murto came close with a 598. (1952)
Tom Mestelle scored 22 points to lead Ladysmith to a 70-43 win over Cumberland in a Heart O' North Conference basketball game. (1962)
The Superior Senior High School hockey team improved to 14-0 with a 5-3 win over the Morgan Park Wildcats. Bill Flynn was credited with one goal and four assists and John Santori notched his 10th and 11th goals of the season. Other single goal-scorers were Don Larson and Mike Susens. (1977)
Pam Papenfuss scored 17 poitns and grabbed 11 rebounds for the UW-Superior women's basketball team, a 78-61 winnver over the College of St. Scholastica. The Yellowjackets did it with defense, limiting Lisa Lindstrom to only two points. Lindstrom, a graduate of Superior Senior High School, is the Saints leading scorer. (1985)
