Captain James Henry Schwinghammer, 69, resident of Lake Nebagamon, died Feb. 9, 2012, in Reno, Nev.

Captain James Henry Schwinghammer, 69, resident of Lake Nebagamon, died Feb. 9, 2012, in Reno, Nev.

He was born Feb. 5, 1943, in St. Cloud, Minn. to the late Edward Joseph and Agnes (Beuning) Schwinghammer.

He attended and graduated from Father Pierz Memorial School in Pierz, Minn. James was a United States Military Veteran and served in the United States Navy. He worked as an ore boat captain on the Great Lakes. He enjoyed cars and four-wheeling.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Gerald (Pam) Schwinghammer of Prior Lake, Minn., David Schwinghammer of Little Falls, Minn., John (Sharon) Schwinghammer of Pierz, Minn., Rodney (Helen) Schwinghammer of St. Cloud, Minn. and Roger Schwinghammer of White Bear Lake, Minn; nieces and nephews, Amy Lockie, John Schwinghammer, Kelly Schwinghammer, Stacie Hughes, Kristy Dieke, Joey Schwinghammer, Jake Schwinghammer, Craig Schwinghammer and Paul Schwinghammer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. at the auditorium in Lake Nebagamon. Burial will take place at a later time at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, Minn.
