With an unbelievably warm winter the summer golf season seems like it’s just around the corner.
Officials from the Superior Chamber of Commerce are saying why wait for summer and inviting are golfers to take part in the inaugural “Frozen Fore” event Sunday at Barker’s Island.
The Frozen Four is designed as a family event where you golf with a tennis ball on the ice. Participants may use golf clubs if so desired, but other items that may be used include tennis rackets, baseball bats, brooms, etc.
The Superior Jaycees has partnered up with the Chamber, and proceeds will go to support the Chamber’s Youth Leadership Program, which includes area 11th and 12th grade students.
The event was originally scheduled for mid-January, but thin ice and lack of snow forced the postponement.
The Chamber assures the public that the ice level has been checked and is safe for participants to golf. There is currently more than 15 inches of ice.
Tee times begin at 10 a.m. and run through 2 p.m. The cost is $10 for students (with IDs), $20 for adults and $50 for a family (up to five family members).
Along with golf, there will be a bonfire, Grizzly’s will have food available for purchase and Northwest Beverage will have Nicolet Water/Water Joe and Roaring Lion energy drinks to sample. ARCO coffee will also be on site.
To register go to www.superiorchamber.org. For more information call the Chamber at 715-394-7716.
