Ronald J. Remington, 71, lifelong Superior resident, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012; at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, surrounded by his family.

Ronald J. Remington, 71, lifelong Superior resident, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012; at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1940; in Superior to Raymond and Joy (Flemmen) Remington.

He graduated from the former East High School. Right after high school Ron served four years in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961.

After returning home from the Navy, Ron moved to Milwaukee where he was employed with American Motors and Visa Lighting. He then moved back to Superior where he was employed with the Burlington Northern Railroad for ten years and then went to work at Murphy Oil in 1985, retiring in 2003.

Ron married Judith A. Anderson on Feb. 15, 1964; in Superior at Zion Lutheran Church and celebrated 47 years of marriage.

He was a member of the Superior Moose Lodge 606.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He was also an avid Wisconsin sports fan watching the Green Bay Packers, of which he was a shareholder, the Wisconsin Badgers and the Milwaukee Brewers. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grand pets.

In addition to his wife Judy, Ron is survived by three daughters, Julie Remington, Superior, Betti (Bill) Warn, Superior, Patti (Ken Pettit) Remington, Superior; one son, Wade Remington, Superior; four granddaughters, Samantha and Amanda Nieman, Superior; Trisha (Travis) Mandigo, Md., Nicole Martineau, Madison; Trisha and Nicole's mother, Barbie Martineau; three sisters, Bonnie (Richard) Carlson, Minnetonka, Minn., Conleigh (Mark) Lohman, Cedarburg, Wis.; Shannon Sanders, Superior; three brothers, Mike Remington, Superior, Patrick (Mary) Remington, Superior, Tracy (Cathy) Remington, Superior and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Steven Pettit.

Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m. until the 7 p.m. Memorial service on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012; at Zion Lutheran Church, Superior. Rev. Patrick Ziems will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be his cousins, David Mohr, Perry Flemmen and Brad Flemmen and his brothers in-law, Ronald Anderson and Rodney Anderson.

Inurnment will be in the Parkview Cemetery in Hawthorne in the spring.

Ron's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Solvay Hospice House Staff; Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, floor 3 east staff and the First Avenue Oncology department staff for all their care and compassion.
