Rallying up for Hope for the Warriors are the proud owners of four-wheelers in Poplar. On Feb. 11, this small town will be making a big impact in the lives of wounded service members by participating in The Warrior Ride, a four-wheeler poker run. All proceeds benefit Hope for the Warriors, a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

Sign up for the event will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 11, at Roadhouse Pizza and Bar. The official start time is 11 a.m.

The run will stop at Rapids Riverside, Sidelines Bar, Bait & Resort, Gravel Pit Tavern, Middle River Tavern, Bridges Indianhead Tavern, and finally, end with Roadhouse Pizza and Bar and a prize ceremony.

Gearing up for this event are 20 sponsors investing in this creative idea, including Superior Beverages, LLC, Poplar Hardware, Nevin Drywall & Painting and Hursh Meats, all of which hold the sacrifices of wounded and fallen service members as a most worthy cause. About 60 four-wheelers are expected to attend, drawing nearly 200 hundred people.

Douglas County is not only stepping up for such a great cause, but they themselves harbor some amazing warriors that have served our nation. Their legacy of service aligns them with the mission of Hope for the Warriors, ensuring that the sacrifices of the brave men and women are remembered and honored.

“The reason that we started this ride/event was to help out the wounded veterans, and their families, that give so much of themselves for us —and this country. Our event is a way for our community to say, ‘thanks”,” Mike Nevin, Warrior Ride organizer and founder of Nevin Drywall & Painting, said. “In Douglas County, Wisconsin, we hold great pride in what our service members do; and raising money for Hope for the Warriors is a great way for us to show that support. By holding this event in their honor, participants can personally help provide for our military members that need some extra help here on the home front.”
