Superior police investigate Tower Avenue assault

Superior police are investigating an early Friday morning physical assault in the area of North 17th Street and Tower Avenue.

At about 4:20 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a 911 call from a residence near the corner. Upon arriving, the officers met with two adult women.

According to the women, they left a residence they had been at with acquaintances and were walking out to their vehicle to leave. A person dressed in dark clothing and wearing a ski mask approached the women. The sex of the individual is unknown.

The women told police the suspect began striking one of the women with some sort of club or blunt object. The suspect then struck the second female in the face and stole her purse.

The suspect said nothing during the assault.

The women were treated at a local hospital for their injuries and released.

There are no suspects at this time.
