Superior: Superior Community Theater holds open auditions for “Singing in the Rain” at United Presbyterian Church, 229 N. 28th St. E., at 6 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The musical calls for many tap and jazz dancers. Parts are available for actors who can sing and dance, actors who just sing and regular actors, plus many extras. All ages welcome to audition. Cable: IPC Nordic Skiing World Cup Craft Show being held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the community center on Highway M. Something for everyone. Superior: Douglas County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) offers a program on the connection between food and cancer. Rhoda Nagorski of Senior Connections presents the program 2-2:45 p.m. Thursday at the Superior Public Library. She will prepare a food and make cancer and dietary connections. Superior: The Cathedral School Athletic Association sponsors a pancake breakfast in the Cathedral of Christ the King’s Kress Hall. Pancakes, sausages, juice, milk and coffee are served 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children younger than 12 and preschoolers are free. Proceeds support the athletic and physical education programs at Cathedral School.
Monday
Duluth: La Leche League of Duluth meets from 10 a.m. to noon at First United Methodist Church for a monthly playgroup. Babies and children of all ages welcome. Participants are welcome to bring a snack or bag lunch for themselves and their children. Call (218) 499-9504.

Maple: Northwestern High School hosts a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. Walk-in donors are welcome, or make an appointment at MBC.org.
Duluth: Sacred Heart Music Center hosts the musical theater production of author and storyteller Kevin Kling’s “For the Birds” at 7 p.m. at the center, 201 W. Fourth St. “For the Birds” will be performed by the music group Zeitgeist and narrated by Kling. It begins at 7 p.m. at the center, 201 W. Fourth St. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door with student tickets available for $5 at the door with ID.

Duluth: The Mental Health Support Group meets 5-7 p.m. at Miller Dwan Medical Center, 502 E. Second St., meeting rooms 1-3, lobby level, eastside near the auditorium.
