Good ideas can create bad situations

There are some phrases, once said, that just lead to bad situations. They may seem like a good idea at the time, but end as, “I’ll never do that again!”
Here are a few to consider:
• I will hold it you light the fuse …
• Hey watch this …
• I wonder what this button does …
• I wonder where the mother bear is …
• No, these are the good mushrooms …
• Nice doggy …
Jesus shared a story that contained another phrase. It was made by a man having just experienced a great harvest on his farm. Flush with an abundance of crops, he came to the conclusion that he would store it all away; then kick-back, relax and live the good life. His statement: “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry!”
The problem with his decision was he did not know he would die that very night, losing not only his newly obtained possessions, but also his soul. Because he did not include God in his plans, he lost on both counts.
The worst phrases we can utter are those that do not take into account our spiritual well-being. Short-sighted plans that do not include God may seem like a good idea at the time, but always end with the wish that it had not been done. By then, it could be too late. We may have run out of options.
“Good ideas,” without God, are always bad ideas.
