James H. Miller, 94, Superior, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at St. Francis in the Park Health and Rehabilitation.
James was born Oct. 4, 1917, in Superior, the son of Frank and Mina Miller.
He enlisted in the Army serving his country during World War II. James was deployed all over Europe and served in one of the armored divisions under General Patton.
James worked for many years as a switch tender for Lake Superior Terminal and Transfer. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Thomas, Albert, John, Bill and Robert.
James is survived by his brothers, Raymond and Kenneth Miller, Superior; a sister, Anna Mae Gabriel-son of Superior and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St. Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Veteran's memorial park with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435.
