The Superior Police Department is looking for assistance from the public to identify the person or persons responsible for a rash of graffiti crimes in Superior.

The Superior Police Department is looking for assistance from the public to identify the person or persons responsible for a rash of graffiti crimes in Superior.

Since Jan. 16, the department has received 18 reports of spray paint on garages and garage doors in the city, according to a press release by Capt. Matt Markon. All the incidents of the recent graffiti make references to “Satan” and “666.” Profanity and threats to the police have been a part of a few of the graffiti markings. The graffiti, made with green, brown and red spray paint, covers a wide range of the city, including the east end, north end, midtown and south or North 21st Street.

“We really need assistance from the public,” said Community Policing Officer Bonnie Johnson. People should report if they see any suspicious activity or have been found graffiti on their property. Maybe someone knows a person with suspicious spray paint on their fingers, Johnson said, or a parent is missing cans of spray paint.

Anyone with information about these or other crimes is encouraged to contact the Superior Police Department tip line at (715) 395-7468 or text the tip to 847411 (TIP411), keyword SPDTIP.
