Grand Rapids sinks Spartan swimmers

Grand Rapids picked up a 110-70 victory over the Superior High School boys swimming team Thursday in a dual meet at the SHS natatorium.

Superior won four of 12 events, sweeping the distance freestyle events and picking up wins in the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley.

“Grand Rapids had more depth than us, but it was a fun, good meet,” SHS coach George Lehman said. “The kids swam well.”

George Eisenmann and Jacob Noonan were both double winners for the Spartans. Noonan placed first in the 500 freestyle and the 200 freestyle, while Eisenmann won the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley.

Noonan’s time in the 500 freestyle was a season best, and Ian Walker’s fourth-place time in the event was his personal best.
