Lillian M. Wedan of Lake Nebagamon, Wis., passed into eternity on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Middle River Health Care Center, with her loved ones by her side.

Lillian was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Milwaukee, to Knute and Elma Jacobson. When she was very young, she lost her father to a construction accident. Her mother eventually remarried Richard Hemingson, who adopted Lillian and her sister Evelyn. They moved north to Patzau, Wis., where Lillian spent her childhood. She graduated from central high school in Superior.

On Nov. 13, 1948, she married the love of her life, Merton Wedan. They settled in the Pattison Park area. Lillian worked in the Twin Ports for many years. Among her main employers was Superior National Bank. She then worked as manager of Douglas County, Superior and State Employers Credit Union until her retirement. Before her health failed her, she enjoyed hobbies such as golfing and ice fishing. Lillian was an avid Packer fan. She has the distinction of scoring two holes-in-one, both on the sixth hole at Norwood Golf Course, where she was a member for many years.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Middle River for the special care Lillian received during her stay there.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn (Jack) Cloutier, and her brother Richard Hemingson Jr.

Lillian is survived by her loving husband Merton; sons David (Wendy), Dennis (Julie) and Steven (Sue); eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday Jan. 19, 5-7 p.m. Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home. Private family services will be held on Friday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery at a later date.
