Superior man accused of sex assault
A Superior man accused of having sex with a 14-year-old in his camper while it was parked in Lake Nebagamon made his initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court last week.
A Superior man accused of having sex with a 14-year-old in his camper while it was parked in Lake Nebagamon made his initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court last week.
Joseph Daniel Crum, 29, faces one count of felony sexual assault of a child under 16 years of age. If convicted, he could be imprisoned for up to 40 years.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. As a condition of his $5,000 signature bond, Crum is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or any unrelated minor girls.
According to the criminal complaint: Crum admitted to having sex with the girl at the Lake Nebagamon camping park in June. When Detective Brad Hoyt with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department arrested him for the assault, Crum said the victim told him she was 19.
