Tunell, Mattson named Youth Optimists for December
Erick Tunell and Nicole Mattson, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for December.
Erick Tunell and Nicole Mattson, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for December.
Erick participates in high school basketball, track, FCA, is on the board for Pledgemakers, and is past Student of the Month. He volunteers as a 7th grade boys’ basketball coach, a teacher for 5-day clubs, and as a SBA and RBA referee. Erick is a member of the Edge Bible Study group, the Scott Anderson Leadership Forum, and Superior/Douglas County Youth Leadership. He is interested in attending college to pursue an education and an advanced degree in sports medicine or engineering. He is the son of Rich and Renee Tunell.
Nicole is a board member of the Superior High School student council, a member of the National Honor Society and Pledgemakers, and participates in tennis, soccer, DECA, and Interact Club. She is a member of Superior/Douglas County Youth Leadership and a graduate of the Northland Foundation Kids Plus Leadership program. Nicole plans to attend college after high school, but is undecided as to where she will attend or what her major will be. She is the daughter of Greg and Sandy Mattson.
The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 community service award sponsored by the club.
