Coast Guard cautions against recreating near ship channels

Ice is beginning to form in the greater Duluth/Superior Harbor region. This may soon necessitate ice breaking activity, either commercial, or by the U.S. Coast Guard.

This may soon necessitate ice breaking activity, either commercial, or by the U.S. Coast Guard.

All snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle operators and other recreational users of the ice should avoid shipping channels, plan their activity carefully, and use caution near the ice. Ice fishermen, especially, should use caution when placing their ice shacks in proximity to the shipping channels.’
