SHS gymnasts surpassing last year’s results

The Superior High School gymnastics team has only competed in two meets this season, but already they have surpassed their high team score from last season.

On Friday, the Spartans hosted their first home meet of the season and finished second with a score of 125.55. Their highest score from last season was 124.95.

Individually, the Spartans also had a strong meet. Jessica Engstrom, a junior, placed third in all four events to finish second in the all-around scoring. Freshman Giselle Sziron took first place in floor and second in bars and vault, while sophomore Tay Boykin had the top score in beam.

In junior varsity action, Carissa Welch took second on floor and third on vault; Emma Dahl took second on vault; and Cassie Strum took second on beam.
