The Solon Springs girls basketball team won its first game of the season Tuesday night with a 37-21 win at Butternut.
The Eagles nearly pulled off their first win of the season Friday but struggled from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and fell to Bayfield, 57-54. The Eagles made only 4-of-13 free throws in the fourth quarter and shot 32 percent from the free-throw line for the game. Bayfield finished shooting 61 percent from the free-throw line.
Solon Springs led 16-13 after one quarter, but Bayfield rallied in the second to take a 27-25 lead.
In the third quarter, Bayfield added to its advantage, taking a seven-point lead. Solon Springs kept the game within reach by outscoring the Trollers 16-12 in the final eight minutes, but the Eagles weren’t able to take the lead.
The Solon Springs girls host Drummond at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Solon Springs boys improved to 3-1 Monday with a 66-16 win over Butternut.
The Eagles also picked up another Indianhead Conference win Thursday with a 87-75 victory over Bayfield.
