The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northwest Region in Spooner announced a public information meeting to discuss the corridor preservation study for U.S. Highway 53 between Solon Springs and 53rd Avenue East in Superior.
The meeting runs 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hawthorne Town Hall, 7221S Town Hall Road. A short presentation begins at 5:30 p.m.
WisDOT is undertaking a preservation study to plan for future improvements. The study includes identification of locations for future grade-separated intersections to preserve long-term mobility and safety of the highway. The project will result in preservation through official mapping under Wisconsin Statute 84.295; no construction is planned at this time.
The public is encouraged to attend to provide input and ask questions concerning this study.
Alternatives will be on display for potential improvements at the County Road L and B intersections, U.S. Highway 2 interchange and Moccasin Mike Road intersection.
The grade-separated alternatives being considered at each of these locations may require closure or relocation of some local roads to ensure safe traffic flow.
WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, would like more information or make a comment, contact Marc Bowker at (715) 635-4975. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Marc Bowker, WisDOT, W7102 Green Valley Road, Spooner, WI 54801.
The meeting site is accessible to wheelchair. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and who require an interpreter may arrange for one by contacting Marc Bowker three days prior to the meeting.
