Solon Springs hoop teams in action

On Friday, the Solon Springs girls basketball team hosted the South Shore Cardinals. The Eagles trailed just 15-10 after the first quarter thanks to a pair of 3-pointers by Autumn Blaylock and remained close at halftime, down 25-16.

In the third quarter, South Shore put the game away with 28 points in a balanced attack.

The Cardinals, who won the regional championship in last year’s WIAA Division 5 playoffs, were led by Megan Koehler and Janice Anderson, both with 19 points.

Blaylock finished with 10 points for Solon Springs, followed by Rachel Grubbe with six.

The Solon Springs girls played at Washburn Tuesday night. They return to Solon Springs Friday for a game with Bayfield at 7:30 p.m.

Boys baskeball

On Monday, the Solon Springs boys (1-1) fell to Washburn (1-1) 53-41. The Eagles host Bayfield Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
