MILWAUKEE (AP) — University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's chancellor is expected to sign an agreement in Beijing, China Monday that's aimed at increasing the university's international profile.
Under the recruiting agreement, UWM would be marketed throughout China, Milwaukee's third-largest trading partner. Chancellor Michael Love says while China wants more international educational experiences for its students, the university is committed to recruiting students from all over the world, especially in key trade countries.
Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce president Tim Sheehy says there are a myriad of ways the students could connect to help Milwaukee employers in China.
The Journal Sentinel says UWM would pay a marketing fee, but would generate millions more in tuition because of the higher out-of-state rate. The UW Board of Regents will consider the agreement at its meeting later this week.
