Spartan wrestlers drop opener at Chetek
Superior hosts Hayward at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The Superior High School wrestling team opened its season with a 55-15 loss Thursday night at Chetek.
The Spartans had three wins on the night. Nathan VanErt pinned Anthony Wallace at 106 pounds; Nick Kirchoff won a 7-6 decision over Mitchell Wozniak at 152 pounds; and Chandler Oja won by forfeit at 126 pounds.
Superior only lost three matches on the night with eight of Chetek’s win coming via forfeit.
