Writing contest highlights breast cancer awareness

This year’s topic for the Kelly Culhane Writing Contest will be: Upon Arrival of Illness – Coming To Terms With The Dark Companion.

The submission requirements will be 1,200 word limit. Hard copy submissions must be typed and double-spaced, with name and address on each numbered page. Electronic submissions accepted. A $25 reading fee must accompany all submissions. Visit www.savpress.com for more information.

The top 100-125 entrants will be published in a 240 page softcover book anthology to be released in October 2012 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The first place prize is a Kindle Reader, a two-hour Lake Superior Cruise provided by Amicus Adventure Sailing at www.AmicusAdventureSailing.com.

Deadline for submissions is Jan. 30, 2012 and the winner will be announced on May 15, 2012. The contest final judge is Laurie Hertzel, senior books editor, Minneapolis Star Tribune.
