John “Joe” Flowers, 77, Superior, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011.
John “Joe” Flowers, 77, of Superior died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born on April 28, 1934, in Duluth, to Frank and Lavern (Gill) Flowers.
Joe served in the United States Army.
He married Patricia “Pickle” Cole on Oct. 27, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Superior and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Joe was the owner and operator of Flowers Signs, “Sign it With Flowers.”
In 1970, Joe was “Bowler of the Year.” In the day, Joe was a great horseshoe player. He loved sports, music and especially Elvis.
In addition to his wife Pickle, he is survived by four daughters, Patty Flowers, Coon Rapids, Minn., Peggy (Dave) Connolly, Superior, Kris “Cricket” (Ken) Lundgren, Superior, and Kari (Dave) Hoven, Isanti, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Tony (Rachel) Rainaldo, John Rainaldo, Mike (Larissa) Connolly, Maria Connolly, Kaci Lundgren, Cole Lundgren, Jaymes Hoven, Katy Hoven and Anna Hoven; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Flowers, Superior; two sisters, Claudia LaJoie and Margaret Flowers of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Thursday, Dec. 1 in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Certa-Werner of Faith United Methodist Church officiating.
