Friends of the Library Holiday Book Sales Offers Free Gift Wrapping

The Christmas shopping season is here, and the Merry Little Christmas Book Sales sponsored by the Friends of the Superior Public Library are offering budget-minded shoppers a chance to buy quality gift books for everyone on their lists.

The sale runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays from Nov. 30 to Dec. 21 at the Superior Public Library in the area just past the computers.

“A wide array of specially selected books will be available for sale,” said Maggie Bare, Friends of the Library president. “Shoppers will find books for adults, children and young adults, cook books, craft books, nonfiction, and current fiction.” Suggested donations are $2 for hard cover books, $1 for trade paperbacks, and $1 for a bundle of regular paperbacks. As an added bonus, free gift-wrapping will be available.

Money raised from the Merry Little Christmas Book Sales will be used to purchase print and audio-visual materials for library patrons. This past May the Friends of the Library donated $12,500 to the library for materials. In addition, the group sponsors other library projects throughout the year and supports the Imagination Library through the Superior-Douglas County United Way.

Donations of gently used books and magazines for the Book Corner and books for the Merry Little Christmas Book Sales may be dropped off at the Library circulation desk.

“We welcome donations all year long,” said Bare, “and we encourage community members to support our library by joining the Friends of the Library.”
