Geraldine “Gerry” M. Grein (Stichman), 82, a lifelong resident of Superior, passed away peacefully on Nov. 8, 2011, at Golden Living Center.
Geraldine “Gerry” M. Grein (Stichman), 82, a lifelong resident of Superior, passed away peacefully on Nov. 8, 2011, at Golden Living Center.
She was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Superior to the late Samuel and Helen Stichman and graduated from East High School in 1947. On Jan. 2, 1953, she was united in marriage to William “Dick” R. Grein in Superior.
Gerry was a member of the Navy Mothers and enjoyed making trips around the Great Lakes with her husband who was a steward on many cargo ships. Gerry also enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds that frequented her backyard. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in- law, Donna Grein and Dr. Jerry Dukeminier, Lamy, N.M.; one sister, Doris Harrington of Superior; three nieces, Patricia Frommes, Duluth, Kathleen (Steve) Osterhaus, Sister Bay, Wis., and Holly (Mike) McLean, Superior; as well as great- and great great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend of many years, Pauline Kukull, Superior.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, William “Dick” R. Grein and her son, William R. Grein, Jr. as well as her two sisters, Helen Stichman and Mae Erickson and brothers, Samuel, Robert, and Gerald (her twin) Stichman.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass on Wednesday, Dec. 7 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
Inurnment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements.
