One of the most entertaining and unique fall events, the Kids in Nebagamon Darren Harvey Memorial Auction is set for Thursday.
The annual auction begins with a wine tasting at 6 p.m. followed by the auction at the Lake Nebagamon Auditorium, 11596 E. Waterfront Drive.
This auction will offer a number of very special items and experiences. Among the items offered to bidders is a high tea for eight prepared and served by Michele Hughes. She will prepare and serve a Christmas High Tea that will offer an array of special sandwiches and sweet treats. A similar high tea brought some very vigorous bidding at last year’s auction so Hughes, a member of the Kids in Nebagamon board of directors, decided to do it again this year so some lucky bidder will be able to host this unique event.
This memorial auction honors the late Darren Harvey of Lake Nebagamon who died in an accident last year. It benefits the Kids in Nebagamon mission of assisting children whose families are experiencing crises, such as an illness of a parent or child, a home fire, unemployment and other such traumatic events. Last year, 81 children from the communities in the Maple/Northwestern School District were assisted at Christmas time.
Kid in Nebagamon, a federally approved nonprofit, also supports and sponsors programs and projects to benefit children and families. Proceeds from last year’s Harvey Auction were used to purchase a new swimming raft at the Lake Nebagamon Public Beach, a popular gathering spot for families from throughout the area.
