The Superior High School volleyball team won its first ever Lake Superior Conference championship with a 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20) win at Ashland Thursday night.
Jessica Lindstrom had 13 kills, four blocks and 14 digs; Danielle Madgzas added 12 kills, five ace serves, two blocks and nine digs and Allison Wainionpaa totaled 35 set assists and seven digs as the Spartans improved to 21-5-1 overall and 6-0 in the LSC.
Superior also got 14 digs and two ace serves from Maddie Keute; two ace serves, seven kills, two blocks and 15 digs from Taylor Johnson; eight digs and eight digs from Ally Keute.
Brittani Brennan had 16 kills, 11 digs and nine service points; Nicole Wiebe had 12 kills and 12 digs; Kaela Huber had 33 set assists and Casey Cashman had 11 digs for Ashland (10-13, 2-4).
The Spartans wrap up their regular season by hosting Duluth Denfeld at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Superior hosts Antigo in a WIAA regional match at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20.
