MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin's annual youth gun deer hunt is set to begin later this month.
This year marks the third season that children as young as 10 can hunt with a mentor. The youth hunt is designed to introduce more children to the sport earlier in hopes of boosting hunter participation in future years.
The season will run for two days, from Saturday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 9 across the state, except in state park units, Ft. McCoy, Chambers Island, Menominee County and the Apostle Islands other than Madeline Island.
All hunters and mentors must wear blaze orange.
