MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Student identification cards could have stickers on them indicating when they were issued and when they expire in order to be used for voting under a decision made by the state board that oversees elections in Wisconsin.
The Government Accountability Board decided Monday to allow for the stickers on student IDs under the law taking effect next year requiring photo identification at the polls.
The board also made clear that only IDs from public or private colleges or universities that award an associate degree or higher, and that are accredited by a regional or national accreditation association, would be allowed. That would include all of the University of Wisconsin campuses.
The Legislature specifically disallowed IDs from technical colleges to be used.
