An 18-year old man was taken into custody after he reported he had shot a 20-year-old man in the chest shortly around 3 a.m. Thursday, according to the Washburn County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department and a Spooner police officer responded to the “shots fired” call at the Trego Travel Center.

The victim, Calvin D. Riley of Spooner, was initially taken to Spooner Hospital by a private carrier, but was later airlifted to Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth
