Businesses, churches take lead on supplies

United Way has done the ‘Stuff the Bus’ to collect school supplies for four years.

The United Way collected supplies, put them in back packs and distributed the back packs to families in need.

This year, however, area churches and businesses are doing the work and the United Way is coordinating with the organizations to pick up the supplies.

The school district has agreed to pick up the supplies and take them to the schools each business or church is assigned to, said Kathi Madsen, United Way executive director.

Businesses and churches are assigned schools in their area.

“This year more than ever, more families are in need of assistance to get their children ready for school,” Madsen said.

The School District will pick up supplies the week of Aug. 29.

Any organization that wants to lend a hand should call (715) 394-2733.
