Cable: A free reception for the juried art exhibit “From a Bird’s Eye View” runs 4-6 p.m. at the Cable Natural History Museum.

Solon Springs: The traveling juried art show “Create Your Peace/Pieces” can be viewed at the old village hall in Solon Springs today through Sunday. It then travels to the North End Art Gallery, Superior, where it runs Aug. 19-Sept. 24. A public reception runs 7-9 p.m. today in Solon Springs and 5-7 p.m. Aug. 19 in Superior.

Pattison Park: Learn about the porcupine and black bear at 7 p.m. in the nature center at Pattison State Park. Call (715) 399-3111.

Saturday

Superior: Barker’s Island Farmers’ Market runs 8 a.m. to noon near the SS Meteor, rain or shine.

Duluth: The Duluth Farmer’s Market at 14th Avenue East and Third Street celebrates its 100th anniversary. Doors open at 8 a.m. Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon speaks at 9 a.m. There will be drawings and gifts given to customers throughout the morning with cake and coffee served at 9 a.m.

Amnicon: Rapids Riverside hosts the Fourth Annual Bikers for Boobs benefit ride for breast cancer beginning at 11 a.m. Travel a 100-mile scenic loop while raising money to aid local women fighting breast cancer. Cost is $15 for the ride, which includes dinner at Rapids when the ride is done. For more information, look up Bikers for Boobs on Facebook.

Superior: A community craft and bake sale runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.at the Lighthouse of Superior, 1915 N. 34th St. Register for door prizes. Proceeds benefit the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Brule: The Old-Brule Heritage Society annual meeting starts at noon at Amnicon Falls State Park in the Pavilion. Officers will be elected at the meeting, which includes a potluck picnic. Bratwurst, buns, coffee and water provided. A park sticker is needed to enter the park. A daily pass is $7 and seniors 65 and older can purchase an annual pass for $10, non-seniors $25.

Pattison Park: Divide into teams and see who can come up with the most points in Big Sky Jeopardy at 7 p.m. in the nature center at Pattison State Park. The competition is fierce and laughter’s a must. Afterward, stay for Shepherd’s View sky watch, Perseid Meteor shower. Call (715) 399-3111.

Superior: Cherry Stone performs a variety of music at Bayside Sounds at 7 p.m. on Barker’s Island.

Sunday

Superior: Lake Superior Singles meets at 2 p.m. for a potluck picnic at Billings Park. There will be hot dogs and brats, but side dishes are needed. Let us know what you can bring at (218) 940-2248 by Aug 13. Help to set up or clean up would be appreciated.

Monday

Superior: McDonald’s and St. Francis in the Park Health and Rehabilitation offer free bingo at St. Francis in the Park Health and Rehabilitation for seniors in the community. Bingo is called by McDonald’s, which sponsors food coupons as prizes. Bingo starts at 2 p.m. in the fourth floor sky-lounge at St. Francis in the Park. Duluth: A memorial fundraiser for the family of Jeff Bowen, the 13-year-old who drown Aug. 2 in Amity Creek/Lester River, runs 5-9 p.m. at Clyde Iron Words, 2910 W. Michigan St. The event includes a silent auction, live music, pizza and a short program to remember Jeff Jr.’s life. Proceeds defray the costs of the funeral, and help pay for a memorial site and water safety education. Left over money will go to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Rescue Squad. A $10 donation will be taken at the door. The silent auction ends at 7:30 p.m.

Solon Springs: The school board meets at 6 p.m. in the school IMC.

Tuesday

Superior: A Cancer Prayer Support Group meets 2-3 p.m. at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, 4020 S. Darrow Road. Current cancer patients, those in remission and caregivers are encouraged to attend. The meeting is open to all members of the community regardless of church affiliation.

Duluth: The NAMIWalkers team hosts a kickoff at 6 p.m. at Five Guys Hamburgers and Fries at the Miller Hill Mall with information on NAMIWalks, registration forms, a Duluth NAMIWalkers banner to sign and door prizes.

Wednesday
