Senior Connections No Dig Vegetable Garden, which was held on June 7 at the Senior Connections offices, was a success.
About 50 seniors attended and received a variety of vegetable plants to start their own container gardens. The seniors who participated in this event will receive the benefit of fresh organic produce, which they have grown themselves.
Senior Connections would like to send out a special thank you to Dan’s Garden Center Patty Stariha and staff Lynn Davis, master gardener, Jane Anklam, UW Extension, Thompson Rental and those who volunteered to help with this project. Without their donations, and assistance, this project would not have been possible.
Also, mark your calendars for Aug. 17 for the annual Douglas County Senior Picnic.
The picnic will be held at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds. Tickets go on sale the week of July 5 at Senior Connections, 1805 N. 16th St., and congregate meal sites.
Tickets are $7 each and must be purchased in advance.
