Friends of the Library offer Book Corner for summer reading

If you are looking forward to a summer vacation or spending time relaxing at the beach, the Book Corner at the Superior Public Library is filled with a variety of books waiting for you.

If you are looking forward to a summer vacation or spending time relaxing at the beach, the Book Corner at the Superior Public Library is filled with a variety of books waiting for you.

“This is a convenient place to pick out books you would like to read during the summer,” said Susie Schmidt, a member of the Friends of the Library. “There are no due dates to think about, and individual books are not priced. Instead, donations are accepted for the Friends of the Library.”

“The Book Corner is very popular,” said Maggie Bare, Friends of the Library president.

“The donations generated are presented to the library to purchase print and audio-visual materials for patrons. With recent budget reductions, the $3,870 that Book Corner Sales generated from May 2010 to May 2011 has increased the number of new materials available at our library.”

Donations of gently used books and magazines for the Book Corner and the Friends of the Library annual book sale may be dropped off at the library circulation desk.

“We welcome donations all year long,” said Bare, “and we encourage community members to support our library by joining the Friends of the Library.”

Membership information is posted in the Book Corner.
