MADISON — No determination has been made by Gov. Scott Walker's administration yet about whether to allow the carrying of concealed weapons into the state Capitol.

Department of Administration executive assistant Jodi Jensen said in an email Wednesday that policies about whether to allow concealed weapons in the Capitol will be made after reviewing the law and discussing building security concerns with police.

The bill passed the Legislature on Tuesday and Walker is expected to sign it soon. It would take effect in either October or November.

The proposal does not specifically prohibit guns in the Capitol, but it does bar them in a building that's a courthouse or a police station. The Capitol is home to both the state Supreme Court chamber and Capitol Police offices.
