Mendoza, McGrory win Grandma's Marathon wheelchair titles
Defending champion Saul Mendoza of Wimberley, Texas, edged Jorge Jimenez of Spain by a length of a wheelchair to win his seventh Grandma’s Marathon men’s wheelchair race this morning.
Mendoza, a native of Mexico City, was timed in 1 hour, 28 minutes, 53.4 seconds to win by five-tenths of a second.
Amanda McGrory of Savoy, Ill., won her fifth women’s title in a course-record 1:39:30.9. McGrory owned the previous record of 1:44:19 set two years ago in her last appearance at Grandma's.
