Three boys accused of shoplifting energy drinks and selling them to fellow students at Bryant Elementary School on June 7 will not face charges. They have, however, been told to write apology letters to the store they took the drinks from.

According to a Superior Police report:

Officer Jon McKinnon responded to Bryant Elementary School after Principal Kate Tesch reported the incident. Three students — two 9-year-olds and one 6-year-old — were accused of shoplifting 21 cans of Monster energy drinks from a nearby convenience store and selling them to fellow students for a dollar apiece. Each of the three students had energy drinks in their backpacks when McKinnon checked them. One also had a pack of Little Debbie snack cakes. All three admitted stealing them from the store before school that morning.

A store manager was called and sat in on interviews with the three children. The business declined to pursue charges. McKinnon talked to the youth about the incident, and they received school consequences. In addition, the children were told to write an apology letter to the business and were warned not to come into the store without a parent or they could be charged with trespassing.
