I received a very colorful expensive handbill from the “60 plus Association” yesterday.
It shows happy senior citizens smiling and giving the “thumbs up” signal saying “Thank You Congressman Sean Duffy … for voting to Improve and Protect Medicare.”
What rot. The plan ensures that no one under 55 will receive Medicare when they retire. How is this an improvement or protection? Why not implement such a great plan immediately?
Simple, the people on Medicare right now would vote out any politicians supporting this legislation at the next election.
So, they postpone enacting this awful, destructive legislation for 10 years, hoping that all of us 55 and older will reason, “Well, it won’t affect me, so who cares?” They also hope that those under 55 will not be paying enough attention to something that will sneak up on them 10 years from now. My parents and grandparents did not give away my Medicare when I was under 55 and I won’t be bought off by sacrificing health care for my children.
The 60 Plus group is a radical right wing organization which has opposed health care reform and has tried to privatize Social Security. It was originally funded by the Pharmacy Research and Manufacturers Association. Why would they support this bill and spend all this money on slick, expensive brochures?
Beware, Sean Duffy, you will be judged by how you vote as well as by the “company who keeps you.”
