Superior Rotary Club celebrated Children’s Book Week, May 2-8, with a display of books the club donated to the children’s room at the Superior Public Library. Since 2005, the club has donated 193 books for young readers.
Donated books include several picture books, easy reading fiction, and three multi-book series: The European Union, Middle East Nations and Their Strategic Place in the World, and The Growth and Influence of Islam.
“Our Rotary Club is pleased to make this significant donation to the Superior Public Library,” said Tom Wondolkowski, Superior Rotary Club president. “Providing enjoyable educational books for children is one way we can support literacy in our community.”
Reducing illiteracy throughout the world is an international goal for Rotarians, and a major strategy for promoting peace and justice.
“We thank the Superior Rotary Club for their continuing donations of books for the Children’s Room,” said Nora Fie, children’s librarian. “Our library is a well-used community asset and the Rotary Club’s donation of $3,000 over the past six years has been very important as the library’s budget for new materials has been reduced.”
