The University of Wisconsin-Superior softball team defeated UW-Oshkosh 4-3 in game one of a doubleheader today at YP.com Softball Park in Oshkosh.
The Titans salvaged a split with an 11-2 win in five innings in game two.
Amanda LeBard scattered eight hits in picking up the win for the Yellowjackets and improving to 10-5. All three of the Titans runs came in the bottom of the seventh inning.
UWS had 12 hits. Taylor VanDamme and Ashlee Olson were each 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Kalli Kucharyski added three hits and Ashley Martin, Kayla Blom and Britnee Blake each had one hit.
VanDamme hit a RBI single in the first inning; Olson hit a two-run single in the third inning; and VanDamme singled home Blake in the fourth inning.
UWS also committed three errors, including one in the seventh inning that allowed Oshkosh’s third run to score.
The Titans (15-5, 2-2) won the second game 11-2 despite owing just a 9-8 edge in base hits.
Jamie Braden was 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Oshkosh.
Lindsay Garay was 3-for-3 for the Yellowjackets, who committed five more errors.
Martin also doubled in a run for UWS to extend her hitting streak to 10 games.
Kucharyski, Emily Eisenmann, Blake and Chelsey Jarzin also singled for the Yellowjackets.
The Yellowjackets (16-10, 3-5) host UW-River Falls Saturday and UW-Stout Sunday at Liebaert Field. Action both days begins at noon.
