Eyewitness News reporter Renee Passal takes over the anchor desk at 5 p.m. when Sandy Drag steps down.
The announcement was made today by Eyewitness News Director, Steve Goodspeed.
“We are excited and thankful to have Renee’s experience, background and knowledge of the region on the anchor desk,” Goodspeed said. “Renee grew up on the Iron Range, she has covered many of our most important stories and she has earned the trust of viewers.”
Passal has been the station’s Iron Range reporter and will continue in that role while taking on the challenges and responsibilities of her new position.
“It’s a privilege to be presented with this new opportunity at WDIO," she said. "We have a long standing tradition of high quality journalism, and I am honored to have the chance to continue that tradition from the anchor desk.”
Passal began her journalism career at WDIO/WIRT as a general assignment reporter in April 2005.
