William “Bill” Hofman, 78, longtime Superior resident died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Meadowlands, Minn.
Bill was born in Corsica, S.D. on Jan. 7, 1933, the son of Cornelius and Nellie (Bok) Hofman.
He and Lynda were married on Oct. 4, 1974, and celebrated 36 years of marriage.
Bill was an independent over road truck driver from1964 to 1991.
He was a member of Superior Elk’s Lodge 403; the American Legion, the Wisconsin Tavern League, the Stormriders Snowmobile Club and an ATV Club in Barnes, Wis.
Bill was an avid outdoors man, loved and enjoyed trapshooting, hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Lynda, Superior; three sons, Brent (Cinamon) Hofman, Superior, and their children, Courtney and Chloe; James (Jennifer) Hofman, Bloomington, Minn., and their children, Case and Owen; and Daniel (Joy) Hofman, Champlin, Minn., and their children, Matthew and Danielle; two daughters, Susan Niskanen, Floodwood, Minn., and her children, Riaja and Michael; and Sandra Hofman, Kettle River, Minn.; his mother, Nellie Hofman, Hibbing, Minn.; two sisters, Gert (Ronnie) Hackman, Tucson, Ariz., and Ann Horvath, Hibbing, Minn.; two brothers, Andy (Kay) Hofman, Meadowlands, Minn., and Tony (Cheryle) Hofman, Princeton, Minn.; his mother-in-law, Lois Vanderwalker, Duluth; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius.
Visitation will be at 5p.m. Friday, March 4 in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. Fifth St., Superior.
Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5 until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor David Schoessow, officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 435 Honor Guard.
