Evergreen boys fall in fourth quarter; Solon Springs teams in action

The Northwood boys basketball team suffered a 60-51 loss Friday to Turtle Lake.

“We played really good but had a bad quarter there in the second,” said Evergreens coach Charlie Vig.

Northwood and Turtle Lake played to a near stalemate in the first quarter, 17-14 in favor of Turtle Lake, but Northwood scored only six points in the second quarter to fall behind 30-20 at halftime.

The Evergreens then began the second half with an impressive comeback, outscoring Turtle Lake 19-9 to tie the game at 39-39.

Turtle Lake answered in the fourth quarter with 21 points to regain its advantage and claim the 60-51 win.

“We came out strong in the second half, didn’t turn the ball over and rebounded well,” Vig said. “We just fell a little short.”

Gage Harwick led Northwood with 28 points. Brian Albano added 11 for the Evergreens, and Nick Murray finished with five.
