Youth Basketball Roundup: Feb. 9

Superior’s sixth- and eighth-grade boys traveling basketball teams will host a tournament Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Superior Middle School.

Teams taking part in the tournament are Superior, Cloquet, Duluth East, Hayward, Hermantown and Poplar for the sixth-grade boys and Chisago Lakes, Duluth East, Hayward, Rice Lake and Superior for the eighth-grade boys.

A raffle will be held at the tournament, with prizes donated by the local business community as well as the Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Green Bay Packers. All proceeds from both admission and the raffle go toward youth basketball.

Free throw champs

The Knight of Columbus Free-throw Contest was held recently at the Cathedral School gym.

Winners from Superior advanced to the District Level competition that was held on Jan. 30 at Northwestern High School. District results will be released soon.

Action continued in the Superior Basketball Association league for boys and girls at the Superior Middle School.

Cathedral is atop the fifth and sixth grade girls league, Cathedral/Four Corners is in first in the girls seventh and eighth grade league and Great Lakes is on top in both of the boys leagues.
