MADISON (AP) — Patrick Johnson had a goal and two assists to leads Wisconsin to a 4-1 win over Michigan Tech on Saturday and a sweep of their weekend series.
Mark Zengerle added a goal and an assist for the Badgers (19-8-3, 11-7-2). Sean Dolan and Justin Schultz also scored goals as the Badgers sent the Huskies (3-20-3, 1-16-1) to their fifth straight loss and extended their winless streak to 22 games.
Johnson assisted on Zengerle's goal, which opened the scoring at 13:49 of the first period. He also had a hand in Justin's Schultz's goal midway through the third period. Johnson's goal was short-handed in the second period and made it 2-0.
Schultz, a sophomore defenseman, netted his 15th goal of the season. That is tops in the nation for a defenseman.
Ryan Furne scored Michigan Tech's only goal on the power play at 8:44 of the second period. The Huskies were 1-for-6 on the power play while Wisconsin was 0-for-5. The Badgers came into the series with the best power play in the WCHA but failed to score on eight tries.
Brett Bennett picked up the win in nets for Wisconsin, making 21 stops.
Kevin Genoe had 26 saves for the Huskies, who haven't won since October 15 of last year.
Wisconsin has won 12 of its last 13 games.
