APPLETON, Wis. — Trial has been ordered for a Town of Oneida man accused of planning to kill himself and his four children with sleeping pills.
A preliminary hearing was held Thursday for 36-year-old Deke Suri in Outagamie (awt-ah-GAY'-mee) County Court
Prosecutors say Suri told officers he wanted to hurt himself and took an overdose of sleeping pills last month. Suri allegedly also gave some pills to his four children, ages 5 to 11. The children survived.
Suri faces four counts of attempted homicide.
WBAY-TV reports the defense contends the charges against Suri don't fit, given the small dose he allegedly gave the children and the fact that he called 911.
The court decided there's enough evidence to send the case to trial. Suri is expected to enter a plea Feb. 9.
