SHS hockey team wins seventh straight
Spartans improve to 9-4-1 with 5-2 win over Hudson
DULUTH – The Superior High School boys hockey team won its seventh straight game with a 5-2 victory over the Hudson Raiders Saturday afternoon at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
The Spartans’ line of Nolan Holcombe, Daniel Litchke and Caleb Dushkin enjoyed a 10-point game as Litchke scored one goal and assisted on three others, Holcombe scored twice and had one assist and Dushkin scored once and had two assists.
Richard Mikel also scored for the Spartans, who are now 9-4-1 on the season.
Scott Crawford picked up the win in goal for Superior, finishing with 19 saves. Matt Strahota had 21 saves for Hudson (5-6).
The Spartans are back in action at 7 p.m. Thursday when they host Cloquet-Esko-Carlton at the newly built AMSOIL Arena in Duluth. The game was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
SPARTAN SPIN: The line of Brandon Burd, Eric Quam and Dane Sislo got its first start of the season for Superior. ... There was no JV game Saturday. ... The JV game with Cloquet is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Friday at the DECC. ... With Wessman Arena still unplayable because of problems with its cooling system, the Spartans are scheduled to practice at the DECC, Superior Ice Arena, AMSOIL Arena and Pioneer Hall in the DECC over the next two weeks.
