Deputies name Wis. man killed in hunting accident
TOWN OF NEWARK, Wis. (AP) — Rock County authorities have identified the man who died this week in an apparent hunting accident.
The sheriff's office on Saturday said the man was 30-year-old Patrick Preston of Beloit.
The shooting was reported Friday about 12:30 p.m. That was after an 11-year-old boy went to a home and told the resident his father had been shot nearby.
Emergency responders found Preston in a partially wooded area with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff's office says evidence from the scene suggests the shooting was "a tragic hunting accident."
