GILMAN, Wis. (AP) — A 5-year-old is reported to be doing OK after being left sleeping on a school bus in central Wisconsin in frigid weather.
Gilman School District administrator Mark Heyerdahl says the driver had walked to the back of the bus but didn't notice the sleeping child Tuesday.
Heyerdahl says a neighbor of the bus driver saw the child outside of the bus, which was parked at the bus driver's home after the morning route. The neighbor picked up the child and notified the Taylor County sheriff's office.
Heyerdahl doesn't know how long the child was on the bus or outside. The temperature was in the double digits below zero in Gilman Tuesday morning.
The 5-year-old is now home. Heyerdahl tells WSAW-TV the incident is being addressed with the bus driver.
