The Superior High School wrestling team opened its season with a 49-30 loss to Chetek/Weyerhauser/Prairie Farm last Thursday night in the SHS gym.
The host Spartans won five matches on the night.
Jimmy Lamoreaux pinned Tanner Zwiefelhofer in 1:27 at 152 pounds and Cam Stanley pinned Dylan Kinber in 1:32 at 215. The other three wins were via forfeit by Paul Slee (112), Jake Jaques (119) and Nick Kirchoff (140).
The Spartans return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hayward then the Eau Claire North Huskie Invitational at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
